Rik Dijkhuizen (b. 1988) is a visual artist whose multidisciplinary work often reflects on wellbeing, failure, overcoming, and ‘taking things literally’. His narratives and installations often involve long research trajectories. Water is a recurring theme in his work. With a specific preference for materiality and the physical relationship to the object, his work attempts to create specific and convincing topos that are inviting and reflective. Dijkhuizen uses personal and collective references to create imaginative narratives between memory and fiction – otherworldly environments that transcend place and context but feel strangely familiar.
Rik studied at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy Amsterdam, and Art History and Aesthetics at the University of Amsterdam.
